England women’s Sarah Glenn made a startling revelation, saying that she might have been deliberately given COVID-19 by a stranger back in April when the lockdowns were starting to take effect in the UK and across parts of the world. The 21-year-old said that a stranger bumped into her, not once, but twice and then mockingly laughed, giving shockwaves to the young cricketer.

To her dismay, the Derby-born fell ill, but back then, she wasn’t sure about the cause of the ailment. However, recalling those days, Glenn suspected that she had coronavirus. Luckily, she evaded the wrath of the ungodly virus. She also gets annoyed when people say that COVID-19 won’t be causing any harm.

I’m a fit young athlete and I was a bit worried, says Sarah Glenn

“I had to get out of the house one day and we needed a food shop so I offered. I came across this bloke who bumped into me and laughed. I think he was drunk. I and the lady at the till were in shock,” Glenn told to the Telegraph.

“I felt really uncomfortable. It was my first and only shopping experience in lockdown and it was awful. He bumped into me again, so I walked out. I came home so angry. I said to my parents, ‘If I get ill next week I’m going to be fuming’. And there I was next week in bed. It was not great,” she stated.

“It really opened my eyes and I start to get angry when young people say, ‘Oh we will be fine’. No. I’m a fit young athlete and I was a bit worried. I had a couple of bad nights so I get annoyed by that. I did not realise how much it affected your lungs and it took me a long time to get over it,” Glenn added.

Glenn is a bowling all-rounder and she made her debut back in December 2019 in an ODI against Pakistan in Kuala Lumpur. She was also a part of Heather Knights’ England in the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia where she picked six wickets.

Recently, the leg-spinner played five T20Is against the West Indies women’s team where she picked up five wickets. In three ODIs and 15 T20Is, Glenn has eight and 22 wickets respectively to show for her efforts.
