Pakistan cricket has produced a number of tall cricketers over the years. Back in September 2010, fast bowler Mohammad Irfan came to the fore. The speedster, with a height of 7’1” has intimidated a number of batsmen. For being tall, he managed to generate a significant amount of pace and bounce from the surface making batsmen struggle for scoring runs.

Though he has been in and out of the national team, he hasn’t gone out of the radar by any means. In 2012, the southpaw made his T20I debut against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore and in the very next year, he forayed into Test cricket as well. In four Tests, 60 ODIs and 22 T20Is, the 38-year-old has 10, 83 and 16 wickets respectively.

Pakistan unearths another talent

In the meantime, Pakistan has produced another cricketer, who aspires to represent the national team in the future. Mudassar Gujjar, who’s a gigantic 7’ 6” hails from Lahore and has his goals set for the future regarding his cricket career.

The youngster wears 23.5 shoes and if nurtured with care, can be a threatening prospect for oppositions in the future. Gujjar also wants to play for the Lahore Qalandars, currently led by Sohail Akhtar, in the Pakistan Super Kings (PSL).

Qalandars journey

The Qalandars haven’t had the best of journeys thus far in the PSL. The team strained in the first four seasons of the tournament, finishing at the bottom of the points table. Despite having star players like Brendon McCullum, Mohammad Hafeez and Shaheen Afridi, the team flattered to deceive.

However, in the 2020 edition of the tournament, Akhtar and Co made some sort of a comeback. They won five out of their 10 games in the league stage and qualified for the playoffs, finishing third in the points table. In the playoffs, the Qalandars will be facing Peshawar Zalmi in the Eliminator.

However, that they will get to play on their home-ground at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore would give them a lot of confidence. Chris Lynn and Ben Dunk are among the top run-scorers in the 2020 edition while Afridi is second in the list of leading wicket-takers.
