Eyeing to clinch their first victory of IPL 2020, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns at Abu Dhabi eight match of the tournament. In the end, it was Dinesh Karthik’s troops who emerged victorious by seven wickets.

Batting first, SRH were restricted to 142/4 in their stipulated 20 overs. Manish Pandey was the pick of the Hyderabad batting force as he slammed a vital 38-ball 51 to steer his side to a commanding total.

Hunting down the target, KKR suffered early blows in the form of Sunil Narine and skipper Karthik. But youngster Shubman Gill rose to the occasion and slammed unbeaten 70 off 62 balls to guide KKR to their maiden IPL 2020 triumph. Gill, along with Eoin Morgan, stitched a crucial partnership (92) as the duo drove KKR past the finishing line against SRH.

Gill was also adjudged Man of the Match for his batting exploits. After the victory, the 21-year-old shared a picture of himself hugging Morgan. “Glad to get off the mark,” he wrote on Instagram.

In the comments section, SRH youngster Abhishek Sharma didn’t hold back to take a dig at Gill. He came up with a hilarious comment which read, “Bach gya tu iss vaar” (You were lucky this time)

Abhishek was referring to the 17th over of the game when the right-hander smashed him for a towering six. In the conversation, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also decided to join the party as he replied to Abhishek, “I think tu bach gaya is baar.” (I think you got saved this time)

Replying to Yuvraj, Abhishek, boasting his bowling skills, wrote, “Paji tuhaanu te yaad hee hai Sab kida out krda c mai” (Brother, you know that I used to get everyone out)

Twitter, meanwhile, was flooded with praises for Gill’s stellar knock. Many fans even tagged him as the best young player in the country. After the victory, Morgan too heaped praise on Shubman and said that the youngster is pleasing to watch.

“I didn’t have to tell him a great deal to be honest, he’s beautiful to watch on the eye, good bat swing, very languid style, magnificent to watch, he’s good kid, very hungry to learn and I would love to bat with him once again. I think he deserves all the success,” said Morgan in the post-match presentation.
